The Monthly Operating Close · June 2026

Ranch Supply Co.

$12M DTC ranch & outdoor supply · 22 people · period: Jun 1 – Jun 30, 2026 · assembled by ops, reviewed with the founder Closed · Jul 02 2026

A month that doesn’t close stays open forever.

Comparing to the May close

Everything in cobalt moved this month. The May value rides along so nobody has to remember it. This is the point of closing months: the deltas stop being anecdotes.

MetricPlanActualvs plan
Net revenue $1.08M $1.12M +3.7% · hit
Contribution margin 29.5% 30.4% +0.9pt · hit
Repeat order rate 26.0% 24.1% −1.9pt · missed

The miss: the winback flow restarted three weeks late. That is a scheduling failure on our side, not a market story. It carries into July as commitment C-01.

Done

Retire the founder approval bottleneck

Discount authority table live since Jun 3. Founder approvals: 6 in June, all top-tier by design. CX resolution time no longer tracks the founder’s travel schedule.

On track

One source of truth per metric

Metric dictionary now covers 9 of 12 core metrics. CAC reports from one source as of Jun 16; the wholesale feed filter is fixed. Remaining three metrics land in July.

Behind

Restart the repeat-purchase program

Post-purchase flows audited and pruned. The winback flow slipped to Jul 15. This is the same miss as the repeat-rate number above; one root cause, reported once.

Headcount22, unchanged. One open half-seat: inventory planner, posted Jun 20.
Ops seatSeat split underway. Ops manager after-hours Slack: 6 of 20 weeknights. Better, not fixed. The half-seat hire finishes the job.
RetentionThe coordinator-vs-specialist decision is due Jul 11. It has been “temporary” for nine months; it stops being temporary next close.
July watchFounder out Jul 6–10. Decision queue pre-cleared Jul 2; tier 1–2 authority already sits with the leads, so the week should cost nothing.
PF-06-01 · Father’s Day send · Jun 12

The launch checklist got skipped under deadline pressure — gate held at step 7.

What happened

Steps 1–6 ran from memory on a compressed timeline. The step-7 gate caught an offer mismatch between the email and the landing page before send. Nothing reached a customer.

What changes

The checklist moves inside the send tool as a hard gate in July (commitment C-03). Skipping becomes impossible, not discouraged.

A close with zero process failures is not a clean month. It is a month nobody looked.

Q4 inventory position, top-4 SKUs
